SOA and Event Driven Architectures

Service Oriented Architecture

SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) is a conceptual framework that enables organizations to tie business objectives with IT infrastructure by integrating the data and business logic of their separate systems. A common problem is that service logic is deployed in isolation to increase service autonomy. Services continue to lose autonomy when requiring access to shared data sources. HVR Realtime Data Integration can restore this autonomy in a way that it is manageable, scalable and transparent.

Event Driven Architecture

The basic idea behind an event driven architecture ("EDA") is inversion of communication. In contrast to the direct communication frequently used in a composite SOA, or other architectures, communication is done asynchronously through publishing events. An EDA also consists of services, just like a regular SOA, but in order to implement a business process these services will not call each other; instead a service is publishing events, to which other services might or might not subscribe and will optionally react to these events by performing a part of the business process. HVR Realtime Data Integration supports an EDA by using change database capture to translate database changes into webservice calls in realtime.

Data Integration to support SOA and EDA

HVR Realtime Data Integration is an ideal platform to support SOA and EDA because;
  • HVR is able to replicate between different datamodels. Business logic for transformations can be injected inside the replication stream.
  • HVR can exchange data between database change-data-capture and XML based webservices.
  • Data changes can be changed on both sides (bi-directional replication) and data collisions are automatically detected and resolved.
  • Log-based change data capture means that no performance overhead is imposed on the production system.
  • The data feed is real-time feeds, which replaces a clumsy nightly data-load. Nightly data-loads are difficulty to maintain and cause endless quality problems.
  • HVR supports multiple database solutions which can replicate between each other; Oracle, SQL Server and Ingres as well as file replication and bridging to XML-based webservices.
  • HVR is quick & easy to use and manage, which increases the return on investment for the business.
  • HVR Compare and Refresh.
  • HVR Managed File Transport.
