Scalable Data Integration for Cloud Implementation
Cloud computing means exploiting the data center resources provided by suppliers such as Amazon, Google and Apple. These provide large scalable computer resources to service providers which can scale quickly to handle peak traffic. This is called an Infrastructure As A Service (IAAS) and provides companies with great flexibility and minimal time to market. Exploiting the opportunities provided by cloud computing providers is difficult because of the data handling requirements.
- HVR to unload data to the cloud. A company could well have a dataset consisting of hundreds of gigabytes and needs to be piped from their own data center into the cloud computing resource. This alone could take days and requires extreme network bandwidth. It is also important that end-users can continue transactions on this system while the initial dataload is running. The realtime data integration solution solves this problem.
- HVR will integrate cloud-based datasets with rest of enterpise. Once the cloud service is functioning there will be realtime dataflows needed next to the service provided in the cloud with other systems in the enterprise's traditional data center. HVR's realtime data integration functionality is extremely manageable, heterogeneous and scales well over the network so it is ideally suitable for this purpose.
- Cloud sharding with HVR. A service provided from a single region does not provide optimal response times for all customers globally. For satisfactory global response times it is typical to provide cloud services for three different regions: America, EMEA and Asia Pacific. HVR's horizontal partitioning (sharding) feature is perfectly suited to connect in realtime between these regional cloud services.
